It’s going to be hard to say good-bye to Langkawi. We met so many great staff and fellow-travellers. The food – buffet with Malaysian, Indian, and Thai dishes has been excellent. Brendan has never eaten better in is life. The two chefs have taken upon themselves to try to out do each other with providing the most imaginative dishes for him. He has eaten Malaysian noodles, curries, roti, and some fabulous desserts (rice, bananas, and coconut milk). It has also been a ‘vacation from our vacation’ as the pace has been much slower. Hours upon hours of languishing by the pool with some great books and fabulous company – heaven!
Ryan has been playing ping-pong virtually non-stop and has met a league of nations in doing so. He’s in his element. Brendan loves the swimming and lounging beside the pool with his Alex Rider books – we can hardly get his nose out of them!
In the Kuffner spirit of doing something each day, today, we went on the cable car to Langkawi’s highest point, 652 metres, 2000 feet. A bit of line to navigate, but it was definitely worth the views. A lot of fun looking down at the mangroves that we had earlier sailed. At the base of the cable car station, it was amazing shopping at MR prices. We each bought new hats to replace those stinky ones that we’d worn since Egypt!
In the morning, we will be off to Thailand – Phuket.
