June 2 Singapore - Joe is Better

Singapore was an amazing stop – so clean and orderly. The architecture, sculptures, green spaces, and cultural neighbourhoods made the city an excellent stop. Joe and I also loved the entertainment both at Raffles and the Fairmont lounge – it felt like New York! Singapore is now one of our favourite cities. We got a kick out of learning that you could buy gum in Singapore – you just had to present your passport! For locals it is still a definite ‘no-no’! The Fairmont was a haven at this point in our trip and we will always remember Singapore with great fondness (thank you, Hester!). We’ll miss the night markets where you can buy any kind of food imaginable and have the bill end of being well less that $5 per person! We won’t miss coffee shops (including Starbucks) selling a regular cup of coffee or tea, however, for over $6!

Joe is now 100%. That being said, he is not likely to return to India anytime soon. I would love to go back (despite constant ‘Delhi belly’ and being held up by gunpoint in Kashmir and forced to stay on the side of the road for three days in 1989!). It is right up there with my favourite countries in the world and I hope to explore the country further in my retirement.
