Notre Dame Cathedral

A must see when on a tour to Paris. Inside, we remembered in prayer the children’s grandparents who had passed away. We left assured that they hope for our safe journey.

Arc de Triomphe
From there we took the metro to the Arc de Triomphe. If you see Brendan’s cute wool earflaps and tie hat, be sure to send it home. Sunny days and winter hats don’t seem to go together. That’s the last place he had it!

Eiffel Tower
After dinner, we took the metro to the best nighttime Eiffel tower observation spot: Trocadero, an elevated lookout west of the Eiffel Tower. And it didn’t disappoint.
Yes, the tower is lit at night, and recently they have added “bright twinkle lights” that flash on the hour for 5-minutes on the hour.

Interestingly, the tour Eiffel was also despised by many when first built for the World Fair of Paris 1889. In fact, only a fifteen-year lease was negotiated at the time! It goes without saying that its tremendous popularity has ensured its permanent status as a national icon.

We asked the boys if they wanted to climb to the observation deck? Two quick answers no thanks. Metro straight home!
