The day started with big excitement as one of Ryan’s shoes had gone missing in the night. As usual, Ryan was asked to place his shoes outside the night before in order to spare us of the aromatic wonder. Only problem, they were nowhere to be found in the morning. Hippos? We were later to discover that the local mongrel has been up to this form of collecting for quite some time. When we reported the missing sneaker to the manager, within a minute, it was returned to the hut. Maybe not the first time this sort of thing had happened.
We decided that the best way for Brenda and Di to ‘catch up’ with us in terms of African game hunting was to get them booked onto the local venture into Kruger (a mere ZAR750 pp). As we’ve three more game drives coming up together, they’ve agreed to book one in the morning. Your basic lion feasting ensemble!
Afterward, we set off to do the local touristy things: Graskop village, God’s Window, Berlin Falls, Bourkes Potholes. It was terrific. Each vantage offered exquisite views of the terrain, plentiful local offerings (hats, carvings, scarves, etc.) and a wealth of photographic opportunities. Tonight we will be participating in a local aboriginal feast and celebration.
