Back in Thailand and back to civilization for better or worse. Our hotel is right in the Sukumavit downtown area that includes Soi Cowboy (notorious site in the Bangkok 8, Haunts and Tattoo books - it is a tiny tourist street with every inch filled with bars with young women servers and a largely male clientele). Most of the hotels in Bangkok are located in this area.
In the afternoon we bumped into a couple of Canadians who worked in the oil business. They also showed us on the map where we were, where the street markets were and how best to get around. Our location was great – close to both the skytrain (Sukhumavit) and the metro (Asoke) and not far from the mother of all shopping malls: MBK. We spent the rest of the evening touring the street markets.
